I have used Black Magic in the past, and that product would sling all over the wheel after driving. Have not experienced any sling with the FX! Very good product.

(More customer reviews)I have done both of my vehicles and very pleased with the results. The product states the coating will last 4-6 weeks and that is the only part I have not verified yet. I'm working on 3rd week and still very happy with the protection. I have washed once and it made cleaning the wheels almost not necessary. Just hitting the wheels with the water hose blasted almost all the dirt. I've driven in the rain once and the dirt and water just runs off. It's like the wheels now have a teflon coating. I will order more for my wheels are difficult to clean all the ins and outs.

Mothers 20524 FX Wheel Cleaner - 24 oz Review

(More customer reviews)I have tried a lot of products and this one has impressed me the most by far. I have OEM Mercedes brake pads and if you are a MB Owner, you know they put out a LOT of brake dust. What impressed me the most is that if you spray this cleaner on your wheels and allow it to sit for 1 to 2 minutes and spray if off with a garden hose equipped with a nozzle that has a good velocity, it will remove 90% of the brake dust!!!. I use it weekly and only have to use mild agitation to get my wheels clean. It also claims to be safe on all types of wheels, which is really important to me since I have aftermarket wheels. Don't waste your money on any other wheel cleaner, especially P21S. Mothers FX Wheel Cleaner is hard to beat for the price. One word of caution, make sure you use it in a well ventilated area. It gives off some fumes that can make you cough if you get too close as you are spraying it.
UPDATE: 7/7/2010 - After using the wheel cleaner for 1 whole year, I did notice one shortcoming. For some reason, the spray nozzle does not like cold weather! I left two bottles in my trunk and went to use them in Dec/Jan, after temperatures dropped below freezing, and neither of the spray nozzles worked. Luckily, I had a bottle that I had kept inside and I just switched out the spray nozzle. Lesson learned - when the weather gets cold, store it inside. Due to this, I changed my rating to 4 stars. However, it is still the best wheel cleaner I have used....I just ordered 4 more bottles!
UPDATE: 9/16/2010 - Uhhh....The product currently being sold was not the one that my original review was written for. Apparently Mother's has changed the wheel cleaner to some type of foaming spray. It is SIGNIFICANTLY less effective than the original wheel cleaner that was sold a year ago. This new cleaner gets tires clean, but is horrible at getting brake dust off of the wheels. Not recommended!

(More customer reviews)After trying many different brands of aluminum wheel cleaners on my truck's 8 year old aluminum (Progressive) mag wheels - which never really brought back the original luster even with LOTS of elbow graese - I tried Lane's 'New Aluminum'. WOW ! I sprayed a little on - full stregnth - and wiped down the wheel with an wet old terry cloth towel. In less than 2 minutes the acid cleaner literally disolved all the dirt and tarnish, and left the wheel as bright and shiny as when it was new. I'm amazed - and well staisfied. So much so I ordered another 32 oz. bottle as a spare. Thank you, Lane's.

(More customer reviews)I tried this product after a failed attempt to remove heavy, track-use brake dust from my BMW's wheels.
Wow is all I can say. I used a rag to work the nooks and crannies and the wheels look new again. After the difficult time I had with regular car wash soap, I thought the Mothers would only remove some of the brake dust, but the wheels look new.
Just be careful with this stuff. It smells pretty strong and my hands were really dry after using it. But no redness or anything apart from being dry.

Mothers Wheel Brush Review

(More customer reviews)I'll be honest, I'm not even sure exactly what part of the wheel this brush is supposed to clean. But I needed a brush to clean the rims of my car (which were pretty dirty) and this generally did the trick. First off, I did not use a high pressure water hose, just a normal one, this brush, and a bucket with car soap. And by and large it helped get most of the grime gently off my rims. The bristles are definitely soft, which is good because it won't scratch your rims. At the same time though, because the bristles were soft, it was unable to get out some of the heavy dirt that was caked in. Also, this brush has a relatively wide area so I could clean the outer surface of my tire and rim quickly. However, because it was big, it was difficult getting access to the nooks and crannies of my rims. For that, I recommend getting a Mother's Detail Brush which is more narrow (think of it as dental floss vs. toothbrush) Mothers Detail Brush Set - 2 Pack. The brush itself is quite durable and ergonomic, and not too heavy. One other issue I had is that once I cleaned my wheels once, a lot of dirt got into the bristles and i was unable to wash that color out. Though I don't think it tracks dirt once I washed it out.

P21S Polishing Soap Review

(More customer reviews)Have been detailing cars/boats/trailers etc etc for 14 years, have used literally 20+ metal polishing products and overall they have all been the same.....it always comes down to elbow grease, despite their claims....until now! This stuff WORKS! My first test was on severely oxidized aluminum diamond plate, washed it first to get dirt off then followed the P21's instructions - I applied very little pressure and just gave it a quick "once over" I was amazed at the result, with a seriously fast 60 second "polish" it was bright and shining - so I re-wet it and put a little bit more time into it.
Overall i would say it is literally 10x easier to get the same result as other polish products, so in the very least it will be my #1 "go-to" starter product, I am impressed - less time, less effort, great shine!

Did a good job of cleaning a very dirty Honda Civic. Left the car clean and shinny. So shinny, my teenage niece noticed it and commented on how shinny the car looked! It had a good coat of wax underneath, but this stuff cleaned well and left the car nice and shinny!

Easy to apply liquid formula, non-greasy, and dries to what I would call a "satin sheen" rather than a "shine" (which is exactly what I wanted anyway).
Once applied to my tires, the finish lasted about 2 weeks before reapplication was required. It's a bit like car wax for your tires - it sheds/beads water well, and is not greasy like most other tire shine products (so you don't get any residue on the wheel arches when you take the car for a spin).
Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)This cleaner works well. It is not magic and simply applying it and rinsing off doesn't really do the trick. Although, I guess if you were crazy and did that daily it would work, but who does that?
Personally, I try to wash my car weekly. Some weeks it doesn't happen, but mostly it does. I've found that this spray is easy to apply after having just washed the car and then I use a brush on the wheels before rinsing it all off. The spray goes on easy as a nice foam and all four tires of my mustang seem to take just a little fluid out of the bottle implying a large number of wheel washings per bottle. I have only used it three times so far and the fluid level is nearly at the "looks like it just came from the store" level.
As with cleaning anything, keeping a regular routine just makes the cleaning easier and faster. If your wheels are really dirty and you don't clean them frequently then expect to apply this cleaner more than once and to use a little more elbow grease. But, if you're a frequent-cleaner-type person you will find that regular maintenance is a breeze and just a little brushing loosens all of that road crud in no time.
Contrary to another reviewer's complaint it definitely is better than "soap and a sponge." I know this because I washed two wheels on my car with the regular car wash soap I use, and two with this stuff. The results: my wife easily identified which was which.
One thing of note, which did not impact my star rating. I ordered this product directly from Amazon and it arrived in a plastic bag in a box. This is a good thing as the pump had a teeny leak and the bag prevented the fluid from getting on anything else in the shipment. I can't fault the product for being a liquid and being tossed by UPS (the box was ragged when it arrived) but I can compliment Amazon for their packing methods.
