It took less than 45 minutes to treat and wax my whole car and the vehicle now looks better than when I bought it. You can actually hear those little rust causing impurities coming off the finish. Stop destroying your clear coat or settling for less than a perfectly smooth finish get this product! I do not own stock in, or work for, Mother's Car Care prducts.

What is LCB? To understand the liquid clay bar, you have to know that traditional car waxes contain soft polishing agents which clean the paint surface when you apply and buff out the wax. These polishing compounds are on of the reasons that traditional car wax leaves white residues everywhere and is a nuisance to apply.
In the ICE system, Turtle wax separated the cleaning function from the shine/protection function. The TW Ice polish is a pure polish, and therefore LCB does the heavy work of cleaning and prepping the surface for polishing. It is not a replacement for a clay bar, it is a superb pre wax cleaner, that is easy to use and effective.
Liquid clay bar is a three phase liquid contains strong cleaning agents, lubricants and soft clay polishing agents. The combination of the cleaning agents and lubricants allows the LCB to strip off the old finish, remove embedded dirt that is stuck into the paint (e.g road grime, brake dust, tree sap etc.), and polish out minor swirls and scratches. Stuck on Water resistant dirt is what causes the finish to become dull and feel gritty.
The polishing agents in LCB are much softer that what you would find in dedicated scratch and swirl remover. Interestingly, the polishing agents are gentle enough that you can use LCB to polish out cloudiness from plastic headlight lenses. Generally a car's finish only needs to be deep cleaned every few months, as the first coat of wax applied after cleaning with LCB will bond tightly, and tends to prevent dirt from getting stuck on the finish.
To use the LCB, you first rinse the car with water to remove gross dirt, then you shake the bottle to mix up the layers, and then pour a small amount onto a cotton applicator pad, and work over each panel. No need to dry the car, because LCB works best on panels with some water on them.
When you are done with a section of the car, you'll want to hose it off well to get rid of any residual polishing compounds and loosened dirt. When you are done with the entire car, it's not a bad idea to hose it off again. Any spots where water still beads are places that you missed, and still have old wax/dirt stuck on them.
When you are all done, your car will have a smooth, very clean and fairly shiny finish. Now you can now apply your favorite car wax with confidence onto a surface that is truly ready for it.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product in part due to a verbal recommendation from my local auto parts store. After using a clar bar to thoroughly clean the clear coat on my two black cars, I got on with the waxing. I haven't seen the commercials as other reviewers have noted, so I can't speak to how easy to use it is compared to how they sell it in the commercials. My focus for buying this product was to get something focused strictly on shine and gloss. The clar bar treatment got the clear coat super-smooth and clean, so a cleaner wax wasn't needed and I wanted more gloss and shine. This product was marketed clearly as a gloss and shine wax, with little focus on being a cleaner.
If you haven't used a clay bar system to get your clear coat super-glass smooth, I highly recommend that first. I used Mother's brand, but Turtle Wax Ice makes a similar product system. Rub your fingers across your paint - if it doesn't feel ultra smooth (like a really clean windsheild), then go for the clay bar first and get your clear coat super clean - your wax job will go easier and you'll get much better results. Your needn't do the clar bar thing before every wax - this is the first time I have used that and my cars are 2-3 years old, but it made a huge difference worth telling others about. ANYWAY...
Overall, this product has a couple of key advantages over the traditional paste or liquid wax. First, you can use it on just about everything - just avoid the glass and plastic headlight lenses and everything else it works well on - black bumpers, window and door trim, and so on. It shines them up fine. As others note, it doesn't produce near the amount of white powder, so I wasn able to liberally use this around all trim, side mouldings, badges, windsheild washer sprayers, and other bits without worry. Everything cleaned off nicely.
The instructions say you can use this product in full sun and you don't have the traditional issues with a paste wax. This is true, but like any was, the more you let it dry, the tougher it is to remove. But I would highly recommend a clar bar treatment first if your paint feels gritty and the wax comes off cleanly no problem. A pack of terry towels at Target or Walmart is only about $8 and worth it - just use two of them...one for wax removal and one for polishing up to a high shine. When the removal towels gets laden down with excess wax, just swap in a new towel and keep rolling.
Overall, this product goes on more easily and removes more easily than traditional paste was, and provides a much nicer shine. But like others have noted, it still requires the usual amount of work to produce good results. But if you have realistic expectations, this product

Meguiar's typically makes good products at a good price, so if you are a fan, go ahead and give it a try. I find most car care "aficionados" just have to try different products to see what works best for them.
I have used two of these meguiar's clay bars, and they are just so-so. The packaging is very nice and I like that the clay comes in small packages instead of one big lump like most manufacturers.
To compare, I have used the turtle way ice clay bar kit and the mother's clay bar kit. I usually save the detailer spray that comes with the kits, and just use soapy water in a spray bottle for the clay lubricant. I actually like the turtle wax clay the best of the three, but it is packaged with a lame "liquid clay" cleaner. I think the mother's clay is also nicer than the meguiar's. The meguiar's clay, seemed like a milder clay than the others I have tried.
I have also heard good things about clay magic. I think I will try that next and hopefully remember to add it to my review.

(More customer reviews)I'm a big fan of clay bars; they remove sap, paint overspray and transfer like nothing else. Plus, if your car is really dirty, it cleans up that deep dirt that can't be removed by washing alone. I was out of clay and decided to purchase this kit. My local car supply shop had this and the Mother's kit to choose from, so I went with this because I can never have enough microfiber towels. :)
This is a good kit, but having experienced clay bars in the past, I have to say this product is dissapointing. The clay is Very mild. Too gentle to really do the work I needed out of it. It DOES clean well, and for the average guy I'd say this is fine. But I rely on clay to remove serious contamination, and this doesn't cut it.
Another qualm: it tends to "stick" more so than some other clays. Usually this happens if the paint surface is hot, there isn't enough lubrication, the bar is saturated with lube, or you use too much pressure, but none of these factors were present. I decided to break out an old bar just to see... and it wasn't me. My old bar worked much better than the Meg's; not only did my old bar (Clay Magic) not have the "sticking" problem, but it also cleaned up that pesky overpray I was after.
So if you are purchasing a clay bar for the first time because you heard it would solve your problems, then this might not be the one for you. But if you are experienced with clay, or otherwise know for a fact that you only want a very mild product, then this is a good bet.

I stopped using these rubberized foam cleaning blocks imported from China by Hi-Tech Industries when I discovered they smudge, smear and leave rubber residue at any temperature over about 70 degrees. They clean adequately, but the work required to polish away the rubber streaking is makes it not worth the effort.
